How A CPAP Machine Changed My Life!

A CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) Machine is medical gear meant to help those who are suffering sleep apnea- an illness that makes an already difficult life that much harder. Whether you are working at home or in the office, you need as much energy as possible to make sure that your day is productive.

Sleep apnea makes sure that your day is the exact opposite. It makes it difficult for you to breathe during your sleep, causing your body to over compensate, thus resulting in you not getting as much rest as you need.

While there are easier ways to combat sleep apnea, a CPAP machine is by far the most reliable. The machine delivers humidified pressurized air to help you breathe without obstruction at night. You may have to, however, use pure water (perhaps, buy distilled water online or from your locality) instead of tap water to avoid limescale buildup on the device.

To make you understand the benefit of using a CPAP machine, here is an idea of how much of a difference it can make, as personally observed:

Without a CPAP Machine:

It is a well-known fact that a CPAP machine is the best and most efficient treatment for sleep apnea. Before hooking myself up to the miracle machine, I suffered all the effects, symptoms and common problems of sleep apnea.

The most noticeable effect is how my husband was deprived of sleep- this is, of course, was an indirect effect of snoring rather loudly, which is due to my airways being blocked off. It was rather sad. Of course, my partner was able to completely understand my dilemma, and reassured me time and again that no, this was not going to go between us but yes, it can be quite excruciating, especially after a heavy work night. As much as I appreciate his understanding, I could not get over the fact that I was a legitimate cause of his lack of rest.

This meant many late nights, not for the satisfying reason that would first come to mind between a married couple, but chalked up to how hard it was for either of us to get a good night’s sleep: I would be waking up every once in a while, while my husband would be staying up for fear of me lacking air. While he does take my breath away, he is not the culprit in this case.

I would go about the household chores resembling a zombie- no, not even the zombies in the modern movies where they tend to be quick and agile; I was the old school zombie, shambling about, not really knowing where I was going and what I was doing. The kitchen, where I would spend a couple of hours preparing the family’s primary energy course, would turn into a minefield.

With a CPAP Machine:

There are two ways you can view a CPAP machine. You can either see it as awkward headgear that preemptively dissuades any tumbles in the sheet, or as heaven-sent device that will make sure that you get a good night’s rest. With how a CPAP machine helped me overcome my sleep apnea, it deserves the latter perspective.

It can be rather bulky and unattractive, notwithstanding you clothing choice for the evening, but it can provide a night of relaxation for both you and your partner- you will not wake up grumpy and exhausted, and your partner can rest easy, knowing that you are slumbering safely.
