Finding the right men’s ski jacket can be a little tricky and if you’ve spent any time on the slopes recently then you’ll know exactly how important fashion has become in the world of snow sports.

As sports such as snowboarding become as popular as ever, style plays a huge part in the design of the clothing available. However, sometimes the most fashionable clothing is not always the most practical or cost-effective clothing, especially if you are a beginner to the sport.

The most important thing is to choose the right mens ski jacket for your needs and to fit your budget. Here is a list of 3 things that we think are important when choosing a ski jacket.

Budget

Of course, budget is one of the most important determining factors when choosing a ski jacket. Of course, it is generally better to spend as much as you can afford on your jacket so you can get the best possible for your needs. There is nothing worse than buying cheap skiing gear only to have problems with it whilst you are trying to enjoy your holiday.

Weather

Depending on when you are planning to hit the slopes, you should try and dress appropriately. Of course, if you are going away over the harsh winter months, some places tend to be a lot colder than they are during the spring months. This is also affected by the type of sport you are doing. If you are a slalom skier then you will need less insulation as you will be generating more body heat from the intense exercise, whereas if you prefer to take it steady and enjoy making your way down the mountain in a slower fashion, then more insulation will be better for you because you are generating much less body heat.

Padding

If you are a beginner to the sport then it is generally wise to choose a jacket that will provide an extra layer of padding to your body. You will soon find be thankful for the extra padding as soon as you have your first fall! (It happens to everyone!).
